SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability refers to the evolution of societal awareness towards a long-term, resource-efficient, and environmentally conscious way of doing business. The focus is not solely on preserving nature, but rather on maintaining a balance between environmental, economic, and social objectives. This complex demand presents entirely new challenges for architecture, the real estate sector, and the construction industry. Holistic planning becomes a prerequisite for long-term success—both ecologically and economically.

Sustainability and ecological thinking are deeply embedded in the corporate philosophy of HUECK by Hydro. This is reflected in the commitment to environmentally friendly processes and in numerous Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for window, door, and façade systems—prepared according to international standards by ift Rosenheim.

EPDs provide architects and planners with a transparent foundation for sustainable decision-making, based on verifiable environmental data covering the entire lifecycle of a product.

For HUECK by Hydro, sustainability means more than just technical optimization—it stands for holistic responsibility, with a clear focus on efficiency, recyclability, and durability.

ALUMINIUM: INFINITE RECYCLING

Recycling: with around 700,000 tonnes, the German aluminium recycling industry is one of the leaders in Europe. Aluminium is entirely reusable, making it a valuable material in the truest sense of the word. That is why we return used aluminium to the circular economy at the end of its life cycle.

No quality loss: aluminium can be recycled with no loss of quality. Therefore, more recycled aluminium is already produced in Germany than new aluminium. Aluminium recycling rates in Germany are high, with 95% of it being reused in the transportation and construction sectors, for example.

Material for generations: a major advantage of aluminium is its long service life. It is not uncommon for 90- to 100-year-old components to still be intact. At the end of its service life, aluminium becomes a valuable material for further uses. And all at a fraction of the energy originally required because the production of secondary aluminium requires only 5% of the energy used for primary aluminium.

Service life: the service life of aluminium windows is around 60 years.

AWARDS

As a founding member of the A|U|F and a member of the GDA, HUECK by Hydro also ensures the highest possible recycling rate of the valuable raw material aluminium. In addition, many products from the HUECK product family are EPD-certified. Moreover, our HUECK Trigon FS modular system and our HUECK Lambda WS/DS 075 construction kit are Cradle to Cradle silver-certified.

CAREFUL USE OF RESOURCES

HUECK by Hydro strives to use resources sparingly, avoid printed documents, manage buildings in a sustainable manner, and reduce business trips whenever possible. The HUECK by Hydro-team is particularly proud of successfully implementing projects that meet the corporate objective of sustainability and conscious use of resources.

Climate protection starts with the material

Quality for generations. Responsibility for tomorrow.

In response to the challenges facing both the market and the world, Hydro has developed certified recycled and low-carbon aluminium solutions. These help customers minimize the carbon footprint of their products while ensuring responsible production.

Our low-carbon primary aluminium is produced using renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and hydropower, combined with a highly efficient manufacturing process.

Hydro’s low-carbon aluminium products have a carbon footprint of less than 4 kg of CO₂ equivalents (CO₂e) per kilogram of aluminium—compared to the global average of 14.8 kg. They are designed to help customers achieve their sustainability goals and meet the growing demands of climate-conscious consumers.
